5 Reasons We’re Obsessed with Squarespace
It’s no secret… we’re obsessed with Squarespace. Why, you ask? There are a million reasons, but today, our goal is to narrow it down to our top five.
Frequent Updates
We’ve used Squarespace to build our websites since day one when Hive had two employees (our founders, Sarah and Mary Beth.) Fun fact: The first site Sarah ever built on Squarespace was for Mary Beth’s business at the time, MBPR & Marketing Communications - one of their initial pre-Hive collaborations!
Over the years, Squarespace has gone through many iterations, with two of the most significant being Fluid Engine (an easier and more customizable way to work) and, most recently, Squarespace Refresh, which introduced a whole slew of features geared towards business owners such as courses, client invoicing, and built-in payment options.
User Experience
The rumors are true: Squarespace really is the easiest website-builder platform to work in. We’re speaking from experience here, having worked with other website builders for client projects here and there. We’ve found Squarespace to be the most navigable, both for us on the designer side and for our clients.
What does that mean for our clients? Once we’ve created their website and launched it into the public eye, we hand over the keys, so to speak. Our clients get full access to their new site and a training session where we teach them the basics.
Things like adding a new employee to an About page, updating inventory, or swapping out a photo can be done within a few minutes. Say goodbye to the days of emailing your web designer about every little adjustment and hoping they have time to get it done!
Design Potential
As a creative agency, good visuals are at the top of our priority list. Squarespace provides complete design freedom with its drag-and-drop Fluid Engine editor. Not to mention, its 164 templates allow for limitless possibilities for beautiful (and unique) websites. With a little bit of coding, we can wave our magic wand and apply some changes that aren't technically on the menu but can be added through our customizations.
24/7 Support
Something else we love about Squarespace is the reassurance that our clients are in good hands, even after our work together is wrapped up. If something goes wrong or our clients need a reminder on how to edit that one section, Squarespace support is available 24/7. Thanks to its popularity, there are also countless resources online: blogs, YouTube videos, and forums full of people discussing solutions and ideas.
All-in-One Accessibility
Lastly, a huge benefit comes from Squarespace's all-in-one approach. They host the website, obtain a domain, site analytics, and even provide some built-in SEO. Because everything is in-house, Squarespace can double down on security. This is because it’s closed-source code, meaning the code that makes up the bones of your site is only accessible by Squarespace (as opposed to platforms like WordPress, which is open source). While you sacrifice some customizability options with closed-source code, the odds of your website being hacked or broken are much lower.
So, have we sold you yet? We geek out a little when we talk about Squarespace because we’ve seen it work for so many of our clients. If you’re here because you need a new website, perhaps this is your sign to take the leap! Buzz us to learn about our website services and custom packages; we’d love to chat!
