We were able to slowly return to the office after COVID-19. We added to our hive by welcoming two new bees. The industries we serve expanded: from wineries to nonprofits, to fitness systems, to chocolatiers and everything in between! We were fortunate to be able to work with some amazing clients who continued to inspire and excite us with impactful, fun, unique and important projects. Here’s a look at a few of the projects we enjoyed working on during 2021.

Hive created over 20 new websites! One website project we completed was for Chestnut Oak Vineyards. They are located in Virginia’s popular Monticello wine region, just three miles from one of the area’s original vineyards, Barboursville Vineyards.

Heron Strategy Partners is a consulting firm that came to Hive looking for a website and an expansion to their original brand guidelines. The inspiration behind their brand comes from the majestic Heron. Herons are found in the low-country marshes of South Carolina, the rivers in Virginia, and the lakes in California, all places that owner Kelly Bean has a strong connection with. The heron symbolizes intention, perseverance, independence, precision, and balance. Their presence can be a reminder that determination and exploration are a path to renewal and confidence. We incorporated these messages visually throughout the website.

CKC Fitness System is a new company based just outside of Crozet. Our work with them included a product launch, website design, and social media marketing. The CKC Fitness System is a scientifically proven and patented functional fitness system that will TRANSFORM the way you workout. Physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other medical professionals, it will also transform the way you treat and train your patients/clients. This system was developed by a physical therapist to help his patients recover from injuries and workout in a way that prevents future injuries.

We have had a great year with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence by helping with advertising and design of their annual Philanthropy Day event, promoting the 7 Actionable Principles on social media, designing an annual report, and more! Hive is thrilled to extend our partnership with this awesome nonprofit into 2022.

In 2021, Hive continued to work with Afton Express Bus Service to create their vehicle wrap design. We started working with Afton Express Bus Service at the beginning of 2020 on their brand journey. In a brainstorming session, we collaborated with their team to develop the tagline “Our Drive. Your Destination.” The logo was inspired by the view Afton Mountain riders will see on their morning and evening commutes. A bright color palette and casual typeface were selected to make the brand inviting, as accessibility is one of their key messages. You can see their bus around town now!

We continued our work with Gearharts Fine Chocolates by adding a new package design for their brownie mix. We took full advantage of every printed panel incorporating the brand style guide. Hive also collaborated on their “Create a Chocolate” contest and Annual Open House celebration, which included social media giveaways and a Facebook Live demonstration.

Hive worked with local photographer Nathan Beck to rebrand his logo this fall. Designers Sarah and Adrian took the original imagery of a camera aperture and updated it to incorporate a modern color palate. The idea of a globe was inspired by both the company name and Nathan's love of travel. We are currently working on a website for GPD, stay tuned!

Turning Point Assets came to Hive in 2021 searching for a creative team to help develop their branding and a website. Turning Point Assets partners with care providers across the United States to offer services like property acquisition, zoning strategies, and sales/leasebacks, which allows the providers to dedicate their human and financial capital to their mission…. helping individuals pursue fulfilled and independent lives.

We worked with many more clients in 2021, both new and existing. We are so thankful for all the amazing businesses and groups we had the pleasure of working with this year.
